I was born a love child in the mountains of West Virginia. Job opportunities and wishes for a new life brought my family to Chicago when I was 1 year old. My earliest musical memory is from age 4. I was banging on a metal stool when my mother, being from a musical family, wisely laid pots and pans on the living room floor, gave me wooden spoons, and put “The Sound of Music” on the phonograph. Thus began my life as an artist. I wrote my first song for piano at age 7, began studying trombone at age 9, put together my first band at age 11 for a church social, and began gigging professionally ..s and composing music for dance and theatre at age 16. Since then I have toured internationally (Asia, The Americas, Europe, Africa, Istanbul) with a wide assortment of musical and performing arts ensembles. After years of performing my originals as a one-man-band (playing drums, percussion, bass, keys, tuba, trombone, flute, didgeridoo and electric cello (strapped on like a guitar), I started my group “Ulele” in 1994 as an extension of my solo work. Our first release “Seed”(96’) was called “breath takingly gorgeous” by Richard Miln of WXRT (Chicago) and was in the Top 10 independent releases on numerous DJs lists for that year. We had an excellent 8 year run… broke up…and recently experienced a reincarnation in 2007 … all’s fresh and growing! Other groups I play with, from time to time, include the Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra, and Mucca Pazza (a 26 piece “circus punk” marching band), Bumpus, Justin Roberts, Funkadesi and DollEye.I also have professional experience as a dancer/choreographer, clothing/costume designer, visual artist, and actor, most of my time these days is occupied by music. My hobby is dreaming of having enough time for all of my passions.
