The Merries

The Merries is a new, exciting and un-edited project created by us, a group of five Italian musicians from the Marche region of Italy, for whom music and it’s various forms and influences, has played a major part in our lives.We are . . . . . Cristian Ribichini (Guitars and Vocals), Marco Eugeni (Piano and Keyboards) Francesco Caporaletti (Bass Guitar) Romy Tesei (Guitars) Guiseppe Rizzo (Drums and Percussion).We originally formed the group back in 2004, with a goal to generate a project that was linked by our concept of melodic, close and reflexive music. The Merries all come from different musical backgrounds and we find that our friendship, musical influences and experience binds us together to help maintain the focus we find necessary to bring life to the way we write and arrange music. Then we decided to compose and perform our music in English, because only then did we feel that we were able to give it as much expression and achieve the harmony we desired. To sing our material in English also gives us a greater range of flexibility with our lyrics, than if we tried to express ourselves by using only the Italian language. Previously, we considered our vocals to be just another instrument and their function was solely to blend into our music, without being too forceful or overpowering, but in a harmonious way. Using the English language, with her shorter words and expressions, helps us achieve our goal. By the end of 2008 we had completed the recording and mixing of our first ‘mini demo-album’, comprising of five tracks, including one instrumental version. The songs titles are: “My Suitcase” (vocal and instrumental version), “The Time Will Be Over”, “What A Surprise “, “February” and “Without Memories”. Every song tries to speak about reflections from every angle of life, or of some situation or past personal experience.
The Merries, è un progetto inedito voluto da cinque musicisti marchigiani che gravitano intorno alla musica ormai da moltissimi anni! Cristian Ribichini (chitarra e voce), Francesco Caporaletti (Basso), Romy Tesei (chitarra), Marco Eugeni (Piano e tastiere) e Giuseppe Rizzo (Batteria), si uniscono circa 5 anni fa con l'intento di creare un progetto che fosse legato ad un concetto di musica molto melodica, intimistica e più riflessiva possibile! Tutti provengono da e continuano a vivere esperienze musicali diverse più o meno sperimentali, ma la loro amicizia ha sempre fatto si che rimanessero uniti in un progetto che desse vita al loro modo di scrivere, ma soprattutto di arrangiare musica! La scelta di scrivere e cantare in inglese, ricade su un concetto prettamente "musicale e sonoro!" Il loro genere si presterebbe male infatti a scritture troppo costrette all'utilizzo di parole e rime sicuramente meno armoniche e appunto meno musicali come quelle italiane. Del resto hanno sempre pensato che la voce debba essere nient'altro che uno strumento come tutti gli altri, il cui compito è quello di mescolarsi senza troppi protagonismi in maniera musicale ed armonica. E l'inglese, con le sue brevi parole, con i suoi suoni e con le sue infinite consonanti, riesce senz'altro meglio ad incorniciare il loro fine! Proprio in questi giorni (fine Ottobre 2008), hanno completato il lavoro di registrazione e missaggio del loro mini album-demo fatto di 5 pezzi più una traccia che si ripete in versione solo musica. I pezzi sono "My Suitcase", "The Time Will Be Over", "What a surprise", "February" e "Whitout Memories" e tutti cercano di riprendere riflessioni su particolari aspetti della vita e in qualche caso, esperienze e frammenti di carattere personale. My Suitcase è la traccia che si ripete in versione solo musica!
