Gideon’s Army
It was while playing with the grammy-award winning choir, O’landa Draper’s Associates that God gave Chris the vision to start something fresh and new. Realizing that it was time to step up and be a leader, he hand-picked 8 singers and 2 musicians that would fulfill the vision that God had given him. While still a new group, Gideon’s Army has set a new standard in Gospel Music from their distinctive sound, to their overall message and mission, to tell the good news of Jesus Christ.
The Name
Gideon, one of the bible’s greatest judges, was the leader of a 32,000 member army, whom through God’s command, was cut down to 10,000, and eventually to no more than 300. This was done to show how powerful their God was because with His help, the 300 defeated the much larger Midianite Army. Thusly, O’landa Draper’s Associates, once a 67 member choir decreased to a 30 member choir after the death of their leader. Under new leadership, and through a vision from God, that choir after a short period was further reduced to what is now the 8 member Gideon’s Army.
