GENE PETERSON LIVE

At only 20, Gene Peterson is fast establishing himself as one of Australia’s leading musicians. After winning both the ‘Australia’s Up and Coming Drummer of the Year’ competition and ‘The Billy Hydes National Drum Play-Offs’ in 2006, Gene consolidated his success by embarking on a 3 month tour drumming for Raw Dance Company’s ‘Urban Wonderland’. Having recognized his talents, he was commissioned by Raw Dance to compose the score for their next production ‘Project X’, in which he toured extensively as musical director, keyboardist and percussionist. In 2007 Gene created his own production ‘Gene Peterson Live’ which seamlessly combines his extraordinary musicianship, with a natural flair for entertainment. Gene has since completed seasons at numerous festivals both nationally and internationally, including the Singapore Arts Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Holland Dance Festival and was the opening act at the prestigious ‘Australia’s Ultimate Drummers Weekend’, where he launched his live DVD. Aside from his successes as a touring artist, Gene is also a prolific composer (having had his composition ‘Raindance’ performed by the Darwin Symphony Orchestra & having also won a national film score competition) and maintains regular work as a clinician, keyboardist/cocktail pianist, teacher and session musician.
