About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4OF COURSE THIS IS ONLY A FAN PAGE, TR WOULD NEVER BLOW THEIR OWN TRUMPET SO ALLOW ME TO BLOW IT FOR THEM, FEEL FREE TO JOIN IN THE TRUMPET BLOWING FRENZY AT ANY TIME.... I WILL BE HAPPY TO BLOG ANY INFORMATION, REMINISCENCES OR COMMENTS ON TR THAT ANYONE OF YOU DEIGNS TO SEND THIS WAY.....The legendary Tardis Retardis began in 1986 with a bunch of DEVO fans, none of whom could actually play any instruments- the intention was to cover DEVO's obscurer works whilst having as much fun as pssible. The band debuted at a party in an Edwardstown lounge room, which gig also saw the debut of THE LIZARD TRAIN. TR were notable not only for their extremely (unintentionally) punk versions of DEVO songs but also for dressing up for the occasion- mostly yellow suits and other industrial clothing. The original lineup consisted of 2 guitars, 2 basses, drums and keyboard but over the years TR went through a total of 8 members with numerous instrumental re-shuffles. The eventual core became Dorothy Pawlowski (LUMINOUS GREEN SNOW, THROAT SLUG, RED RASCAL) on bass, guitar, keyboards and/or vox; Adrian Van Bochove on bass and later just vox; Terry Rowe (FEAR AND LOATHING, DEFCON, BILLION DOLLAR BUMS) initially as drummer then guitar then keyboards; Bob Lehermayr (YOG SOTHOTH, RAW POWER, PETERHEAD) on guitar then keyboards and vox but only in the DEVO years, and Chris Wiley (FEAR AND LOATHING, BLOODLOSS and 1000 others) as drummer then keyboards and vox. As the band continued various members acquired more instruments- this was in the early days of digital technology when analog synths, sequencers and drum machines could be had for virtually nothing at music shops and garage sales. Armed with an array of new weapons TR came to the conclusion that it was more fun doing weird shit electronica than DEVO covers and the next phase began. The predilection for dressing up continued with a strong focus on black lights and UV reactive clothing and make-up and lots of stolen safety gear to dress up the stage. TR's last ever gig was to have been an immense scripted show complete with an actual Tardis made out of fridge boxes, Davros (built around a wheelchair) , smoke machines and blacklights. However in the end it was 3am before the band got on stage and there was noone left to see it. The band was so depressed by this they decided not to continue and TR was no more.paraphrased from TR boxed set liner notes courtesy of Home D 2006
