About Me

If you haven't noticed yet, I'm not a MySpace user anymore. Granted I check in every once in a while, but for the most part I can be found on Facebook if you wish to contact me. I have multiple reasons for leaving MySpace and I am sticking to this decision. I will soon be deleting all of my photos (except one) and blogs and will then no longer log into this site.
For those who read my blog on WordPress you may have also noticed that I completely left that site. I have two reasons for doing so:
1. I have been too busy lately to continue blogging, and,
2. I have reserved my own domain name and begun working on a website that will be 100% dedicated to my blogs. The launch date for this site might not be for a few months, however, due to my hectic schedule at the moment.
I will not be posting the domain name to this site until a week or so prior to launching, and most likely will not be posting here on MySpace. If you wish to follow the new blog I will be posting the site to Facebook.
If you are a MySpace 'friend' but not a Facebook 'friend' but want to stay in touch through the social networking medium, the box below is a direct link to my profile. I'm very active on Facebook.
Soon enough, the MySpace will be removed.
I created my MySpace account after joining the Marine Corps and only to keep family and friends updated while I was on my first tour in Iraq. It didn't have anything fancy but a few pictures and a paragraph of what I was currently doing overseas, which I updated about once a week when I had the chance to use the internet (which is posted as a blog above, though a few entries have been removed). When I came home from that tour, the page turned into something completely different and the account as a whole somewhat spun out of control.
The profile page (and most profile pages out there) are cluttered, unorganized, and are a pain to view. When MySpace wants to add a new feature, there is no forewarning. It is forced on to you and becomes a pain until you use it (i.e. the @Myspace.com e-mail address). MySpace Chat works just like the site as a whole, constantly experiences technical problems that go forever unresolved. My biggest problem with the chat is that it was something I did not even want to use, but it was forced onto the page, and when it first came out, was complicated to figure out how to disable the feature.
Trying to contact MySpace tech support is of no use, by the way. In fact you will see later that contacting MySpace for anything is of no use. Multiple times I had attempted to contact MySpace through e-mail and only received automated replies from a computer program that did not pertain to my question or issue. No matter how many times I replied, re-sent, or tried another route, it was always the same thing.
My biggest issue with MySpace was privacy issues I encountered over the summer. I tried to contact MySpace through e-mail on this issue, and again the same thing. In the end I had to contact the FTC to get the issue resolved.
Facebook is more organized, more professional (for the most part), the site works, and a letter is written out to their users prior to a major (or even small) change. The demographic for a MySpace account is primarily teenagers, while Facebook is geared towards college students and adults. And this makes sense. It is much easier to 'network' through Facebook than it is through MySpace, which was the major factor in its creation and is usually an essential to its target demographic. Also, an insane amount of personalization to the 'profile page' is not a top priority for the working adult. Facebook keeps it simple, which I like.
So again, I am leaving MySpace for good. There is no need for me to have a Facebook and a MySpace, anyway. The box below is a direct link to my page. Add me, or don't. Either way, thanks for the years of comments, but most of all, thanks for the support while on the deployments in Iraq when I was using this website to contact the rest of the world.
