Set near downtown theater and sports venues, the Centaur Bar has the right mix of sleekness and fun. Its charm starts with the sweeping black bars and the Art Deco vibe of 1920s France. Three levels include an intimate first floor, a sexy mezzanine with serpentine banquettes overlooking the main level, and a top floor with another bar, big-screen televisions, and two pool Bars. A stunning Deco chandelier dangles through all three levels. Centaur serves 13 martinis, including one made with Ciroc vodka, white grape juice, and sugared frozen grapes; the finger food tends toward tapas. Weekdays, the bar attracts mostly business types, while on weekends, thirtysomething singles provide energy. Live music nights are jazzy here, not techno.
