I hope this page will be an inspiration to new comers like myself in this area. I post places I've gone, people I meet and people who inspire me. I enjoy people. I am genuine. I like meeting new people and going to new places.
I worked for the Obama Campaign in 2008, initially as a canvassing coordinator but finally as their data coordinator.
I have been an active member of both The ACLU and The NAACP on LCCC Campus.
Currently I am the President of The LCCC Chapter of The NAACP.
I have set up an email, Facebook, and Myspace account for the group.
I also sit on the Diversity Committee.
I have worked with Ms. Michelle Piazza to establish a Health Awareness Club on campus that will do outreach on issues of healthy living to all LCCC students. The group has just been approved.
Off campus,
I am a volunteer organizer for The Rainbow Alliance Division of The Luzerne Foundation & GayNEPA.com. We organized NEPA Pridefest 2008 which took place, successfully, in Kirby Park on August 10th and we will be repeating our efforts again this year on August 9th.
I am also working with Organizing for America (2.0). This is fairly large spin off group from the Obama/Biden campaign which will be monitoring government, promoting the advancement of minorities and women in government issues, and putting a halt to the corruption that takes place under the old-boys-club method of politics which exists here. I am an active member of Luzerne County Home Rule and the referendum is on the May 19th ballot.
I help with and am in the process of being certified as a fascilitator/interventionist with the WVAC (Wyoming Valley Aids Council). They just had an event with Megan Margavage (Case Worker), Abbott Laboratories, and The Mount Zion Church in Wilkes Barre on an event for NBHAAD (National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day)at Mt. Zion Church. There will be events to promote all the awareness days throughout the year ending with World AIDS Awareness Day in December.
I also serve as the budget drive treasurer on my church stewardship committee, The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley.
I received the Student for Peace Award on April 20, 2009 at a dinner hosted by the Peace and Justice Center of Wilkes Barre for my efforts. Of this I am very proud.
Every now and then I take a nap.
