About Me

Wing Chun Kung Fu has evolved from several basic concepts. The focus of the style is efficiency, efficiency of movement, energy, training time, and effectiveness. If you keep in mind that Wing Chun always seeks the most efficient solution to the problem the other theoretical focuses of the art fall into place. The first concept introduced to most beginning students of Wing Chun is that of Center Line. The Center Line is your body's vertical axis of symmetry (i.e. the line which connects the top of your head to your perineum). Wing Chun movements grow from the center. Many of the striking points your opponent wishes to attack lie along the Center Line. If your movements occupy the center your opponent's cannot. In this way Wing Chun movements serve a double function. A simple initiated movement can at any time become offensive or defensive. There are not separate blocks and strikes in Wing Chun as there are in say Shotokan Karate. A Pak Sao (slapping arm "block") may be used for an attack or a deflection depending upon the needs of the situation. Similarly Wing Chun kicking technique can be used in an offensive striking manner, as most martial arts do, or defensively toward off an oncoming attack. Working from the center also provides the shortest fastest route of attack and, with arm attacks, utilizes more large muscle groups than non-center attacks.More Info at...http://www.dajia.co.uk MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator www.dajia.co.uk

My Interests

Wing Chun is a simple martial art, well suited to the needs of people in modern society. It is an effective system of self defense in which one can become competent in a relatively short time. Since it does not rely on physical strength, Wing Chun is ideal for men and women of any stature.
