.............In 2002 Matt recorded his first solo CD titled "Change." In four months he put together a diverse collection of songs in this freshman effort, which was mixed by Tom Herbers (The Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, The Honeydogs, Vanessa Williams, etc). Some of the musicians on this album were; Adam Levy of the nationally recognized band The Honeydogs, Randy Broughten (Gear Daddies, Trailer Trash) on pedal steel, Jeremy Ylvisaker, Bruce Balgaard, Brian Mangum and Chris DeWan who were regular members of his band at that time. His album had received very favorable reviews from national and international press. Change is electric, energetic and a fitting forum to further showcase the multi-instrumentalists many gifts. ..............2005 brought the release of his second disc Time Flies, where he has truly crafted his style as a lyricist, found maturity in his composition and found his voice to carry these songs. In an attempt to search for sonically unique recordings, Matt stumbled upon the works of Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois and has joined their quest for subtlety and unique beauty in the process of ambient recording. You can hear these influences all over this disc. I still get mad when I listen to this cd because it sounds so freakin' great! ..............Musically, Matt has been a multi-instrumentalist since he was a child starting with piano. He picked up the guitar in 5th grade, which led him to bass guitar, mandolin, pedal steel, Hammond organ, accordion and pretty much whatever instrument is set in front of him. This skill, joined together with his knack for songwriting, is a beautiful combination. Alongside his own, original material, he has co-written songs with numerous people including Joel Hanson, Nate Sabin, Jason Gray and Sarah Notley......................................................
