About Me

I believe, as Leader of the Coalition Government team , we are doing what's right for Australia . But the future-orientated Coalition is about not just managing the good times, we're also providing prudently for inevitable uncertainty and adversity. The Australian people put their faith in us 11 years ago because they wanted a government prepared to take the long view and to govern with the needs and aspirations of mainstream Australia in mind. They also wanted us to bring renewed ambition to our national life.Today we can see the fruits of a great, yet unfinished, transformation in Australia. More people are in jobs than ever before. The number of Australians on welfare is down. Household wealth has more than doubled. Business investment is strong. The job is not yet done. We have transformed Australia, but the Australian renaissance is a work in progress. The distance we have travelled is nothing compared with how far we can go. It's time to set our sights higher still, with five goals for a fifth term .1) to keep the nation strong, secure and united, engaged in the world and at ease with itself;2) to build a new era of growth, prosperity and opportunity here at home;3) to embrace a sense of aspirational nationalism to guide relations between different levels of government in Australia;4) to ensure a rising tide of prosperity lifts all boats, with every child getting a solid start in life; and5) to get the balance right on the big challenges around climate change, energy security and water scarcity.Australia is the best country in the world. I'm in no doubt that its best years are yet to come. The choice you face at the election will be the most significant for a generation. Only the Coalition team has the plans, experience, determination and commitment to continue doing what's right for Australia.
