For years I have discussed the fundamental view that it takes an act of giving to remind people that the cultural arts are a priviledge.
While budgets in schools for things such as art and music are rapidly declining, students are forced to let their love of music become stifled and as the years grow on, the community of Musicians becomes just a bit smaller.
My friend and local booking agent Ginny Rose shared that view and in December 2006, we formed White Light Entertainment. WLE’s purpose was to provide a benefit forum for showcasing new local talent and its proceeds be directed toward purchasing instruments for those musicians who simply cannot afford them. Unfortunately, we never had the chance to put on so much as one benefit. As March came and went, Ginny passed away. It was then that The White Light Foundation was formed and I am forging ahead, putting those ’fundamental views’ into something tangible.
Please add us to your friends list and your blog subscription listing to receive news of upcoming events and announcements. I thank you for supporting music as an art form and for supporting the efforts of the White Light Foundation.
