Dead Famous

Dead Famous followed the death of the Mark Thorn Band (those who didn't go South of the River went deeper into crack-pipe and syringe hell or heaven depending on which side of the spoon they were on) and a slew of other ill-fated projects. After Mark Thorn spotted an advert placed in Loot by none other than lead guitarist, the legendary Trashy Benzi, they unleashed upon mankind the motion of the wheels of what metamophosed into Dead Famous. Trashy and Mark had a mutual love of talking dirty, camp behaviour, glam, punk, rock along with guitar solos. They dug out some songs they had always wanted to play, but had been unable to since they never met anyone with the balls, savvy, sluttishness, humour or fun to do them. So began the beginning of the rock and roll dream. Potential recruits were taken aboard until they we're either booted, or jumped or swam safely to shore until they met a drummer of their ilk and superpowers. Welcome aboard Four Letter Fury's Mike Fury. It was three down and one to go until Mark had a "Why didn't I think of that before?" moment and enlisted the services of friend and fellow rock and roller, Aki, on bass, and the rest, as they don't say, was a mix of history and mystery!
They raided their pornographic stash and produced some flyers you'd want to take to bed with you thanks to a shit-hot pose from Venus incarnate, Veronica Zemanova. Before even setting a foot on stage they had polarized opinions. The flyers were either the "best we've ever seen!" or "offensive filth!". A band of rare energy, musical precision and rock 'n' roll attitude, Dead Famous played a whole variety of shows from 2003 onwards, including performances at annual Biker festival, The Bulldog Bash, and support slots for the likes of The Scientists!
In 2006 the band split with Mark and Mike joining "Bubblegum Screw", and Mark continuing with "Neon Diamond". Benzi joined "Spider Superstars" and "B-Movie Vampires"; he is also playing for "The Steevi Jaimz Band".
