I am finally understanding how an artist can be so passionate about their music. It’s not about writing neat little hooks or rhymes anymore. When music is created out of your life experiences, there is a new reason for playing. Every time the song is sung, you are reminded of the passion, the emotion that was poured out as it was formed. And all of a sudden your life is open for the listener to experience. You can’t hide behind your favorite cover song anymore. Who you are and what you have been through is now available to anyone in ear range.
These songs were never meant for anyone but me and God. But as I have begun to share them I am surprised to find they are opening up opportunities to tell others about the great lengths love will go to in order to reach into a person and change them for the better. 5 songs, which currently make up the Darker Side of Love EP, are my best attempt to capture these experiences.
