About Me

I'm Jamie (James, whichever you can remember better). This profile is meant to be more about Octopus Army than myself, though. Octopus Army (www.octopusarmy.com) is a weekly hour-long program featuring the best of modern Japanese music. The program launched in 2001, and has no allegiance to genre whatsoever. Occasionally the show will include interviews with Japanese artists, or people with some kind of connection to Japanese music. The purpose of the Octopus Army website is to be a modest resource for fans of Japanese music. Much of what I play on the show is difficult to find, and hopefully I can help people track down music and support some of these incredible artists. The show airs Mondays at 5 pm on 93.3 CFMU FM in Hamilton, Ontario. It can be streamed in real time at http://cfmu.mcmaster.ca. It can also be downloaded or streamed at your leisure at www.octopusarmy.com

Personally? Music, movies, etc (popular culture in general), politics, philosophy, languages, japanese stuff, community radio, travel, the general weirdness of humankind

I'd like to meet:

Like everyone else says, you! Especially if you have an interest in popular music from other parts of the world, or you're a Japanese artist or musician.
