Farewell from Arkansas’ Thunder Roads Magazine
It is with a great deal of disappointment that Dana and I have to announce that Arkansas’ Thunder Roads Magazine will no longer be published.
I am not so much disappointed in losing everything I have invested over the last three years, but more so that Arkansas no longer has an adequate way to promote our motorcycle paradise.
While I am disappointed, I am not surprised. This is not the first publication of its kind to fail here in Arkansas. Before I came along there was Riding South, The Ride, Thunder Rider and a previous Thunder Roads Magazine. We all have the same common problem, a lack of advertising support for the biker friendly business community. It is disappointing that there are enough biker friendly businesses here to support two magazines, but most businesses chose not to support the very riders/readers that support their businesses everyday.
Dana and I are not disappointed in all the great people we met along the way, nor are we disappointed in the advertisers such as Rodney’s Cycle House, who has been with us for over a year. We have had many great supporters along the way, far too many to note in this letter. We would like to extend my deepest thanks to all of our advertisers for their support.
We are not disappointed in the Biker community. We have been shown an unbelievable amount of support from the Bandidos, their support clubs, and the coalition headed by Murray. Many other MC’s, riding groups and organizations have invited us to their events and opened their hearts to the magazine and our staff. We truly appreciate all the warmth you have extended to us and our staff. Please feel free to continue to invite us to all of your events. We will get out as much as possible and continue to support your poker runs, rallies and bike shows.
I would like everyone to know that I am going to do my best to get all our advertisers, subscribers and Dice Run sponsors compensated for any funds due for unprinted ads and undelivered subscriptions.
I also want to thank Brian and Toni, founders of Thunder Roads Magazine. They have been very patient and generous to me. They are working with me to help us transition our magazine to a graceful and professional end.
I just ask for everyone’s continued support and patience in this difficult time. Feel free to contact me or our corporate offices if you have any questions.
I hope to see many of you on the road and at events as I continue to be a very public and accessible part of the Arkansas biker community.

Farewell Replies

Hoot- Dont normally write letters to the editor, but enjoy reading your rag and then having just read your input in the latest issue, you are spot on. Thumbing through this issue, there are 3 bike shop ads, not counting the ad from Wisconsin H-D, and of those three, only one is a national bike name, that being Big Dog. It is pretty sad that the H-D, Honda, Yamaha, and all the other shops with national bike exposure in AR dont or wont put an ad in this mag, for they damn sure dont mind taking your money when you go in there to shop or get repairs. I guess business is so good they dont need any futher exposure. Good luck for the future and I hope you can wake the business community up for all our sakes. Just hope nothing ever breaks down on the bike while on the road in AR, for looking at your mag, dont have a clue where to get it fixed, except in Wisconsin. Ride safe brother, see you down the road......Lewi

Chrome Divas of the Ozarks:
Hate to hear that. It's really disappointing that not enough biker friendly establishments would support such a great magazine for Arkansas. We were looking forward to our new found friendship with you too. We know you've made many friendships over the years, and you will continue to do so in the biker community. We look forward to seeing you on the road. Take care!
Fred & Christine:
I am very sorry to hear this. I really enjoyed grabbing copies the mag whenever I could find one, they seemed to go fast. My best wishes and hope to see you all in the wind.
Terry:
Hoot and Dana, you aren't the reason, I get tired of tight bean counters that want everything but want it free. Both of you worked your ass off to make it. You let us know what you're up to next and stay in touch.
Fists in the wind and rubber side down! Keep on rollin!
Sticks and Strings Band:
Hoot, you and Dana have done a great job and we really wish it had worked out better. Please remember us if you decide you need to break loose and make some noise. Take care...ride safe!
