STANWOOD CHARLIE [WE LOOK TO BOOK]

About Me

Once a ska-influenced hard rock band, Stanwood Charlie now emerges as a different unique mix of sound. Gaining musical influences such as Rush, Dream Theater, Dillinger Escape Plan, Protest the Hero and other various artists from every genre, Stanwood Charlie has a brand new sound to introduce to the music scene. Welcoming our new guitarist, Dylan Nuese, to the band has brought on a new, and better than ever sounding twin guitar attack with layering harmonies and intricate guitar riffs. Throwing keyboards into the mix played by trumpet player Gordon Musel, gives Stanwood Charlie the new twist they were looking for. With tons of melodies and hooks, the new sound is sure to catch your attention.
Stanwood Charlie has never been a band to lay down and die. Many obstacles have hit them straight in the face among their 7 years of being together, but they always seem to pick themselves back up off the ground and hit the local music scene harder than ever. Now booking shows, writing new material, and planning recording sessions, Stanwood Charlie is back in action and ready to FUCK SHIT UP AGAIN!
Stanwood Charlie proudly supports our troops. Best of luck to you Pvt. Gordon Musel, and we can't wait to see you again!

On April 24, 2009, we lost one of best people in the world. Formally the trombone player for us, Rob Kenkel never stopped being our friend and 1 supporter. We had great times with Rob throughout grade school and being a member of Stanwood Charlie with him for 5 years. Our hearts go out to his family and everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him and getting to know him. He was honest, funny, loyal, persistent and dedicated (the list definately goes on). Since his passing, it was been rough. Times like this are not always good times, but it brings us all closer together as people and friends. We will all miss him very much and things will never be the same without him. We have one thing to say to him... THANKS FOR THE RIDE.

STANWOOD CHARLIE USES:

Sounds Like: "Hugs For Sale" is the full length debut of Iowa's genre-blending Stanwood Charlie. Taking elements of hard rock and ska, and combining them with unique song structure, "Hugs" is a unique listening experience. While many young acts try to emulate their rock or metal heroes, these guys purposely side step that sound entirely. These guys have created some truly interesting songs. With a good ear for melody and hooks, the songs turn and twist with dynamic tempo changes. Most notably,"the Death of Caun Shampbells" which starts with a lonely trumpet wail before the band jumps in galloping at full speed. Stanwood's sound also allows for all members to stand out with their craft, particularly Gordon Musel's trumpet peppering each song. Nearly every song stands out: The sing-along "Turbo Tom", the party rock jams in "Baughoney" and "P.J. Harvey", and the gruff acoustic "Thanks For the Ride".
Appearently this band has played some major festivals in Iowa, perhaps the secret's out on Stanwood Charlie. A very promising debut from these guys.
