In order to avoid possible miscomprehension,some introductory remarks should be made concerning the name of this work,that are necessary for clear understanding of its meaning. If one regards the process of creation of music as the final product,on the one hand, and the works of poet , a writer,an artist,on the other hand, the fact becomes visible that music is that kind of art which can be a product of, as it were, joint","collective"labour.while a poet, a writer,an artist creates his final product in isolation.And in that case ,samples of pictorial art exist in one copy only. I do not believe in"collective creative work" a lot.Rather I do not believe in it at all..But,the limits of this message do not allow to amplify this theme more circumstantially. So,the product is made without other players participation. Hence is its name.of course,it does not mean that I negate conjoint music making.No! Rather ,a possibility is thereby found to pass one"s own messages to a listener more correctly and - most important- authentically,without betaking to other players assistance.Igor Stravinsky said:"Many players perform my works well,but nobody performs it right,in the way I want it" Sure,all above said concerns the genre "The Self-Portrait" belongs to.And by no means it implicates , for example , playing his works by Serge Rakhmaninov without participation of orchestra... ..
