First of all...to clear up any further questions...my name is GRich(pronounced G Rich)...it comes from a combination of my first and last name Garry RICHardson...ok...now that ive gotten that out of the way...i can start with a short bio on how i got started on this thing most of you like to call "rap", but i like to call it "poetry"...reason being is that it comes from my heart and explains my feelings, something that poetry does...
Even before i was born there was always music/poetry around me...my mother was (and still is) a poet...so i guess you could say that this is a birthright...my dad showed me what real music was...so my range in music is extremely broad (i love songs that were made all the way in the 50s even before my dad was born)...
i always made words rhyme...but i wrote my first real rap when i was 12...i still have in my rap folder...but even back then i wasnt really serious with it...i got serious when i bought my first rap notebook (july 14th 2005) and the only reason i remember the date is cause i wrote it on the first where i created my first serious rap in that book...i started freestylin in the summer of 2006...and i started makin beats in the summer of 2007...basically, i made all of my beginnings in the summer
i feel like a vet in the game...not to toot my own horn...but most of the rappers that are out nowadays suck...they talk about the same thing and they hardly have any talent....there are a few main elements that make a complete rapper:
1. style(including rhyme scheme, voice, and things of the sort)
2. creativity(how a rapper chooses to lay out the song and how they choose to say the words)
3. depth(how much valuable substance is in the material)
4. figurative language(metaphors, similes, hyperboles, onomatopoeia, personification, etc)
any talented rapper can take those 4 elements, put them in a song about ANYTHING, and make it sound good and make people like it
my goal and purpose in making music is to be that rapper and to find other rappers that can do that also...i want to change the game
