I am a 27 year old female from Boone North Carolina and I need to raise money for a Heart Transplant. At the age of 24 I had a heart attack which damaged the back side of my heart. The doctors that looked after me did not think that I was sick from a heart attack because of my age, so they were looking at different diagnosis. It took 8 doctors and 6 months for them to tell me that my heart was severely damaged. Due to the heart attack, I have cardiomyopathy (enlargement of the heart muscle), congestive heart failure (a fast irregular heart beat), and I have an AICD implant. The AICD is a defibulator and pace maker all in one which helps my heart stay at a healthy rhythm.I am currently unable to work, so I could use all the help that you are able to give. The transplant itself is around $365,000 and then after the transplant I will need to pay for medications which are $60,000 a year, cardiac rehab, and doctor visits with routine test. I have to raise at least $20,000 before the operation. Duke University will be doing the operation and my pre and post evaluations.
