Lives of the Saints

About Me

Living in a grey area between the electronic landscapes of Fripp & Eno, the dark melancholy of Arvo Part and the celestial explorations of Sun Ra; the music of " Lives of the Saints " is left of center, lush and experimental and described by Robert Fripp as "scary stuff". Much of the music involves lots of electronic processing and heavy use of " looping " , but is not limited to these techniques as evidenced by a Lives of Saints orchestral project in the works for early 2006.Lives of the Saints was founded by producer/mixer/artist, Ronan Chris Murphy's whose work as a producer and mixer has included projects with the likes of King Crimson, Terry Bozzio, Steve Morse, Chucho Valdes, Ulver and many others. He was also one of the producers of the International Computer Music Conference in 1995 and for much of the late 90s Murphy was touring With Robert Fripp as the support crew for several Soundscapes tours in addition to his extensive studio work with Fripp's band King Crimson.Lives of the Saints grew out of Murphy's collaborations with various artists at the Banff Centre for the Arts in the early 90s and made its live debut in 1995 performing live music for a performance in Boston by the Paris based Ka Ti Ma dance company. This performance featured vocalist Tonya Lockyer and real time looping and manipulation by Murphy. Although some the music by Lives of the Saints is composed and performed entirely by Ronan, the heart of the project is his collaboration with various artists around the world. The current work is anchored by extensive collaboration with guitarist Bill Forth who in addition to his work as a musician with Robert Fripp & The League of Crafty Guitarists and the band Ten Seconds, he also spent several years working on the crew of Robert Fripp's Soundscapes tours as well. It was this connection that first brought Murphy and Forth together.Murphy and Forth have begun an intense period of work at Veneto West studios in Los Angeles, where there are simultaneously beginning work on three Lives of the Saints albums in addition to collaborating on Bill's solo album which Ronan is producing.
