i recently moved to nyc and have not updated this site since i started it a whilllleee back......been in nyc over a year now and what a year! about to start a new journey that will take to many new places and introduce many new people, a few years ago i boldly attempted to start my own fashion design label...it is on hold now, but nonetheless a very interesting experience that i will return to the limelight when the time is right...among other things, let's see...human rights issues, the new shoes of the season, keeping warm this winter, poisoned spys, peoples take on religion, having my first adventure in the grand canyon, learning to cook, discovering the nooks and crannies of my new city and now new neighborhood, the beautiful west village, ukranian politics, guatemala -cause my sister is in the peace corps, curioussness of the clouds often has kept me contemplating many odd things...
passionate people---whatever may be the thing that gets ya goin, the thing that makes your conversation unique and your voice animated---i like to listen & learn about that in other people
across the board there aren't many i dont enjoy....high school i was a classic rock girl with a little hippy influence, phish, the dead, also love all types of latin and reggae. flamenco live is one of the sexiest...singing to country in my car feels great, the beatles are a staple, tip my hat to tribe, digable planets, jill scott, live blues on the mississippi river in my hometown is the best...hmmm so much more
off the cuff my mantra has been, i am a sucker for romantic comedy's...french kiss is my all time favorite. i was of the thinking that if i want to use my brain then i will just read a book...now, i mix it up. just saw shortbus -- touching, crazy, laugh-out-loud funny, bizarre, really all the makings of great film. i love almodovar's stuff, guest is consistently outrageous, la petit lili w/the same french actress that was in swimming pool, which was badass. i like harry potter, shark tale and antz-woody allen is too much....
i now have legitimate tv for the first time since college, so while i normally am not a tv person, i am being introduced to the wide world of weekly television -- i like ugly betty and grey's anatomy. i completely became addicted to the pure outrageousness of flav a flav, which i heard was embarking on season 3!!??! completely outrageous (used to not watch t.v., however) i own almost all of the 'sex and the city' seasons and i love, love, love them...
i am totally into nonfiction --just read six wives of henry the VIII, it was fantastic...am now reading Mountains upon Mountains about Dr. Paul Farmer--wow, impressive man....i have yet to embark on The Great Influenza, but that is next....in addition, tom robbins is a fav author, hayen herrera's bio of Frida was amazing, everything by Isabel Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Howard Zinn is a revolutionary, Paulo Coelho's the Alchemist, short stories have become an obsession lately--well written they are so poignant, Jonathon Kozol's social justice non-fictions are beautifully written...i LOVE to read...there is just sooooo much out there.
