About Me

I'm going back to Rome in May. Yes, you can hate me for that. Also, if you haven't seen "No Country for Old Men" yet, you need to do that, immediately.

My Interests

"When one’s universe is separated into sides, and one has chosen among the sides, the surest signs of intellectual honesty are expressions of sympathy for one’s other and antipathy for one’s own."

I'd like to meet:

Christian Bale, because I really think I'm a little bit in love with him. I've loved every movie I've seen him in, from "Little Women" to "3:10 to Yuma." Plus he's the sexiest man in the world, whether he's wearing molded black Kevlar, or he's playing a dirty, peg-legged Civil War veteran. By the end of Yuma, he was full of bullet holes and covered in blood, doing a wonderful job of dying a very poignant death, and all I could think about was how sexy his eyes are. Damn I want him.I also have an odd kind of attraction to Alan Rickman...in fact, I blame a good deal of my sympathy for Snape on the fact that Alan Rickman plays him. He's just so good, I have to like him. I also want him to read poetry to me, and buy me a piano, a la "Sense & Sensibility."Lastly, I would absolutely love to meet Jimmy Eat World (all of them, of course, not just the Jim part). I feel that they are almost singlehandedly responsible for a lot of the music that I have come to love in the last five years, and their music has become kind of my own personal soundtrack. There's a song for every situation. If I could marry any band (which is, of course, essentially impossible and irrational), it would definitely be Jimmy.

Music:

My Chemical Romance, Anberlin, Panic! At the Disco, Kanye West, Deathcab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, Brand New, Nickel Creek, Fiona Apple, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Ani DiFranco, The Indigo Girls, The Postal Service, Harry Connick Jr., Dixie Chicks, Motion City Soundtrack, musicals, Mozart, Handel, Beethoven, Brahms, John Rutter (I met him!), Chopin, etc....

Movies:

No Country for Old Men, Hairspray, Hot Fuzz, Donnie Darko, anything Hitchcock, Bond movies, Ghostbusters, Dogma, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, I Heart Huckabees, Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, Little Miss Sunshine

Television:

Heroes, CSI, Alias, Buffy, Angel, Law & Order, X-Files, Sex and the City, OZ, The Wire, Arrested Development, Twin Peaks, House, ER, Without a Trace, the History Channel, early SNL, Smallville, Veronica Mars...let's be honest; if it's on TV, I'll probably watch it.

Books:

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Lovely Bones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Catch-22, The Poisonwood Bible, The Historian, Vanity Fair, Middlemarch, the Inspector Banks series, To Kill a Mockingbird, Devil in the White City, Him/Her/Self, Eats Shoots & Leaves, Strike Sparks (Sharon Olds), Source (Mark Doty), pretty much anything by Lucille Clifton and Sylvia Plath.....

Heroes:

My sister, for being completely herself and completely comfortable with it. My mother, for loving me enough to be honest with me, and for dealing with my neuroses. My father, for somehow managing to make Buddhism and Catholicism make sense together, and making other people believe it, too.

Survey to occupy my time

70. WHAT'S YOUR PROFILE SONG & WHY?Right now it's "Adelaide" by a band called Anberlin. They're one of my favorite bands lately, even if the singer acts like he's on crack at times. That adds...

Ouch

Today I sprained my ankle for the first time, and let me tell you, that shit hurts. My ankle is huge, and it's still kind of cold from the various cold packs that I've had on it for the last 5 hours. ...

Okay, stupid network executives need to get their heads out of their asses and stop cancelling really amazing shows...Veronica Mars is no more. I haven't been this mad about a cancellation since the F...

the movies

Yesterday I went to see "Hot Fuzz," a very, very, very funny movie about police in the English countryside. Timothy Dalton is in it, and you really can't go wrong with him. Everyone should see th...

marginally interesting questionaire, for those who miss me enough to read it...

What does your MySpace name mean? Well, I would have thought that was rather obvious. And no, it's not spelled incorrectly. Elaborate on your default photo: I took this picture of myself with my ...

I just went to my first "real" ballet performance tonight (that is, not just The Nutcracker or something), and it was really quite beautiful. My dad and I went to see The Joffrey Ballet here in P-burg...

So I think it's been more than two years since I last wrote on this blog. I was still in undergrad, and had only been away from Rome for 6 months. That is so sad. Roma, I miss you. K College, meh........

I love my job.

I'm at work right now and getting paid to write journals at MySpace. I love it. I guess technically I could be doing wedding things, but who really wants to work when they're at work. I know I don't. ...

at least it's not one again (this one's for you, Vika)

So now it's two in the morning, and I'm once again wondering why I'm still awake. Oh right, it's because I have nothing to do EVER, so I don't have to sleep. Wow, I'm cool. Not so much. Oh well. The U...

Guess I have nowhere else to be at this time. Hm. Anyway, so I love being 21. I can go to bars like a normal person and drink without looking over my shoulder for the five-oh constantly. Love it. I we...
