***** ABOUT WASHINGTON STREET PUBLISHING *****
Washington Street is the main street that runs through Columbus, Indiana. It is also where Nancy W. Peacock began her musical journey at the age of nine. Although she studied classical piano and loved musical theater, her heart belonged to the world of pop, rock and soul.
Nancy's B.A. and M.A. in history became history when her true calling found her. Haunted by recurring melodies in her dreams, she finally embraced her path as a songwriter. After traveling between Atlanta and Nashville for several years she made the permanent move to the Music City in 1995. Seeing the importance of networking in the music business led to an internship as a song plugger for Makin' Music Publishing. Later she established herself as an independent plugger and in 2000 Nancy started Washington Street Publishing. She is also a member of The Mocha Network, an active, successful pitch group formed by some of Nashville's top song pluggers / publishers.
Representing some of Nashville's most talented songwriters, the catalog ranges from pop, Latin pop, country, R&B, rap to Christian, inspirational and instrumental theme music. Washington Street Publishing has successfully placed songs with artists in the US, the UK and Canada; most recently with award winning European CMA star, Lucie Diamond, Hot AC artist Suzanne Gorman and new country artist, Jason Byrd. The first 1 song came in the summer of 2006 with Lucie Diamond's cut of "Did He Mention My Name" written by Jan Smith and Eric Johnson.
Washington Street Publishing has continued to expand its horizons by licensing songs to film, television, commercials and musical theater. We are especially proud of the overwhelming response to the inspirational songs in the catalog. "We'll Remember" was the theme song for the 2004 Memorial Dinner honoring the 9/11 heroes in NYC. "Catch the Glory" was used by Bell South as the theme song for the 1996 Paralympics in Atlanta and "Dare to Dream" was theme music for the Tug and Diane McGraw sports camp video in Philly. Diane later used this song as the theme song for her Dare To Dream Career Expo for over 3,000 high school students.
If the road to success is paved with vision and hard work, then Washington Street Publishing will continue to expand on a global scale.
