75ORLESS RECORDS LATEST NEWS
4-4-08....... Turn Blue's "It's Not What We Mean It's How We Mean" has been released. Heavily influenced by 60's and 70's pop, modern electronic music, and the blue-collar melancholy of Green Bay's industrial surroundings, Turn Blue is a band more interested in conveying emotion through complex melody and deceptively minimal soundscapes than conveying a meaning or message through played-out lyrical ideas. For fans of Elliott Smith, Wilco and Surf's Up era Beach Boys. Silkscreened Edition of 150 copies but the label is limited to 25 copies. You can download tracks over at their website or purchase a copy at the label website .

Recorded with Sean Lynch at Muzzle Recording Co. in Olneyville, "quiet/loud/repeat" packs ten songs and assorted weird noises into just over 36 minutes. For fans of Built to Spill, Silkworm, Neil Young, and Slint. Silkscreened Edition of 150 copies. Label limited to 25 copies. Purchase a copy at the label website .... Suicide Bill & the Liquors - A Little Bit....Burned? is now available. Never critically acclaimed, but often ashamed, the boys sometimes rock and sometimes acoustic through Bill's best collection of songs. Think part 80's Minneapolis, part 70's stadium, and part modern-day-quiet-complaining. 16 growing older, hate the day-job, lonely, unsure anthems. ...... von Doom "The Universe" is now available. Pure power pop for aging effete moderns, rock oracle von Doom erupts
onto the 21st century's late first decade rock scene with sonic aplomb. Their debut disc, aptly titled
The Universe is a mix of aesthetics, Latin roots, the state of the art, and psychedelic effrontery. Navigating the treacherous void surrounding us all, von
Doom's requiem for humanity floats above the fray, all the while forging a path straight through your ear-fields. You can listen to the track Gravitational Pull
.......The Providence Daily Dose gave some praise to the latest 75orLess Records release, The Spectacular Fantastic's "Consume" EP: Hardest working label in showbiz, 75orLess has released a quick little EP from Cincinnati’s Spectacular Fantastic, Consume, and it’s one the label’s strongest releases to date. From the opening devolved Television riff of "Limitless and Free," the band is taking things back to mid-90’s American indie super-pop and the harmonized results are pretty great. With feet planted firmly somewhere between Dinosaur Jr.’s too-often maligned but undeniably awesome Green Mind and the more polished end of Guided By Voices, (which is still totally rough compared to anything else) Consume stays sweet and guitar heavy throughout, with chiming and sometimes dissonant solos, and again with the propulsive Dinosaur-esque euphoric drumming. This is a great, sunny record to keep you kind of cheery through all this miserable weather. - Eric Smith.......It's the record label's second anniversary! However, we are too busy to celebrate so we'll try for a big party for the third year...... The Spectacular Fantastic's "Consume" EP has been released in a silkscreened edition of 75 copies. The Spectacular Fantastic is a pop leaning rock band from the outskirts of Cincinnati. The duo, featuring multi-instrumentalists' Mike Detmer and Jonathan Williams, return with their new EP "Consume", co-released with Cincinnati's Ionik Recordings . This EP contains a link for a free download of the online only 'Reward' EP. For fans of The Beatles, Neil Young, and Sebadoh. You can download the track Tiny Little Heart .

75ORLESS.COM THE MUSIC REVIEW WEBSITE
Welcoming electronic, hip-hop, indie, folk, electro, punk, disco, lo-fi, pop, nerdcore, gothic, cockrock, brit pop, nu gaze, blues, acid, easy listening, garage, country, new new wave, comedy, math rock, rockabilly, shockabilly, psychobilly, flip hop, nu metal, death, idm, new age, crust, techno, grindcore, yer major label industry crap and all other music submissions.
Why 75orLess? It's a reasonable question. The idea was born during our daily music chats, while discussing reviews we'd read. There was only one thing we consistently agreed on: they were too long. It seemed the point of how the music sounded and whether or not it was good was lost in an overlong mess of lyric quotes, personal accounts and a seemingly desperate attempt to fulfill a word count. Eventually someone said, "It's gotten to the point where if you can't say it in 75 words or less, you should shut the fuck up". Within a week, 75orless.com was born. The best part about our limit is its reversal of typical music reviews. We limit the amount of words we use, and are not required to reach a number.

A few things to keep in mind...
Please include some info with your submission, it doesn't have to be fancy. We just need some sort of starting point like, "This album sounds like heavy metal mixed with Brazilian pop music."
Giving us a description of your music or influences greatly increases your chances of getting reviewed. We receive over 100 submissions per month. We only review 25 per month. We are sorry to report we cannot review all submissions. We are a very small operation and our staff is completely volunteer. If your music is great, we will let our readers know. It doesn't matter to us if you are on a major label or you recorded it in your basement. On the flip side of that, if you are too sensitive too handle an unfavorable review, please refrain from submitting. We try to give positive reviews but sometimes can't help ourselves. You do not have to email us to ask us if it's ok to submit music.
Please follow up your submissions by emailing us at info(at)75orless(dot)com. Do NOT use myspace for submission follow-ups. The review website and this myspace page are maintained by different people.

1. our writers do not get paid.
2. if you work for a label, promotional company, band or have other connections, be prepared to not write about them.
