About Me

Overall I'm...
socially empathetic... in my work, anal... an obsessive perfectionist most the time, a layed back procrastinator during other moments. I love all things related to Art and those who create it. (my favorite punctuation mark is an ellipsis… because… well… it's how my mind works)
In general I'm...
a freelance audio/visual artist living on the Island of Martha's Vineyard. We've got six towns on 100 square miles of sand and the native poulation consists of about 15,000 while the summer poulation swells to over 100,000. So I usaually meet a lot of folks when weather warms up. As soon as fall brings the sweet chill back in I watch everyone disapear and then head into a more secluded state of hybernation with my work.
I went to school in Philly for film (back in the day) but "cross-pollinated" with those in other areas of the arts. I chose to focus most of my energies on traditional filmmaking with 16mm cameras, flatbed editing tables and so on. I saw this as a way to wrap my base cinematic language around the traditions and foundations from which filmmaking has sprung. Since my college days, I've entirely taught myself the world of digital moviemaking and have since set up a home studio from which I do most my work.
As a post graduate I've made a living freelancing mostly with camera work, editing, graphic design, and motion graphics. I also helped found The Martha's Vineyard Independent Film Festival in 2000 and have beenn involved with programming, graphics and web ever since.
Over the last few years my affections have mostly leaned towards motion graphics. I now find After Effects and Photoshop as my tools of choice.

My Interests

I'm interested in the deeper stuff in life. Aside from that... anyone involved in The Arts in any way. I think all this stuff ties together at a root level. I'm extremely fond of film, animation, motion graphics (these days), music, sculpture, modern dance and painting & printmaking. I'm particularly taken by those who stray into the avant-garde and experimental.

I'm also interesed ("hee, hee") in my lovely wife, the ocean, dogs, the sound of pinkle-tinks in the spring, my own flesh burning in the summer, the smell of wild grapes in the fall, the creative solitude of winter, and... my wonderful, wonderful friends who are like family to me.

I'd like to meet:

Ron Fricke & The Dalai Lama
