Imrama have been playing together for almost five years now. Brendan and Marion met at Mary Begley’s trad. session in the Cobblestone Bar in Smithfield, and initially played as a duo with various guest musicians. They were subsequently joined by Cathy, whose fiddle playing helped to consolidate the sound which they now enjoy.Their music is mainly trad and folk, but shows influences from other genres as well. They also like to include some of their own original material from time to time. They play gigs regularly in Dublin , Kildare, Wicklow and Westmeath. They host a weekly informal session at The Hut in Phibsborough, Dublin. Their sessions at the Youth Hostel in the beautiful Glenmalure in County Wicklow have proved very popular with visitors from Ireland and abroad.Imrama represented Ireland at the 2006 Yn Chruinnaght festival in the Isle of Man. Imrama is an old Irish word meaning "voyage"
