In 2002 Evelien graduated at the Willem de Koonig Academy as a conceptual artist. She researches selfportraits, how we see ourselves, how do other people look at you and what rolemodels or rules do we (women in particulair) live by? In her technique she's expressive, snapshotting her life as if she is on stage, putting on masks of rolemodels and taking them off. She takes photos, makes paintings, drawings, uses all different kinds of media to express herself. She gets inspired by human behavior and emotions, and touches her audience in her direct, often colourfull way of making art. In daily life she is also an artteacher in highschool. Inspiring young people to work with their hands and motivate to use their creative brains, open their eyes and show them how beautiful the world is and teach them how they can make it even more beautiful...Check out the video!
