Influences:Lisa Guyer ~ Vocals and Guitar for Mama Kicks and Delp/GoudreauI remember my first time on stage singing with Brad Delp. I couldn't stop smiling! The beauty of his voice transcended the beauty of his soul. I knew I was in the presence of greatness...on all levels! I will miss you deeply my friend, but know we will sing together again some day.Lisa GuyerDavid Stefanelli ~ Drummer for RTZ, Delp/Goudreau, Mama Kicks and Four SticksI was a 16 year old aspiring drummer in 1976 when the band Boston came and showed us how it could be done and I like millions of others became enthralled with their sound...especially with the ONE OF A KIND vocals from Brad Delp. My band actually rehearsed in the same building as Boston which was The Cambridge Music Complex in Cambridge Ma. With a promo shot of Boston in hand I waited for hours after my own band's rehearsals to catch a glimpse of any of my new hero's. Many days went by without success. Finally one day I was walking to a small room in the complex to grab a soda and there was BRAD DELP! Oh yes, it was him...the beard, the giant hippie hair and that one of a kind posture. (sorry Brad!) I stopped short and he turned to me and said "Hi". Now you must understand that me meeting Brad Delp was probably the same as a young basketball player meeting say, Larry Bird. I said "Hi" in return and told him that I was a fan. Brad thanked me and asked me if I wanted to look at some pictures he was holding of the resent Boston tour. Would I like to???Brad spent about 20 minutes showing me the photos. I was in my glory! We finished up and as I thanked him Brad told me that he would see me around rehearsal. That wonderful experience at age 16 has so far lasted me a lifetime.Years later when my drumming career started doing pretty well I got a call from Barry Goudreau (original guitar player for Boston) to come to his studio and drum on some tracks. My good pal Brian Maes was Barry's keyboard player and suggested that Barry call me. Thanks Brian. I ended up recording with Barry for years and finally Brad Delp entered the picture and became the lead singer for our new band RTZ.Brad and I remained friends for many years. His family and friends have always been wonderful to me. Brad's special infectious personality was always fun to witness from the sidelines as he would meet literally hundreds of fans that flocked to him and treat them all like he did that 16 year old drummer he met in 1976.Thanks, Brad
David StefanelliGardner Berry ~ Keyboards and Vocals for Mama Kicks and Four SticksI've heard his voice on radio pretty much every day for the last 30+ years. The first and last time I heard him live he was singing LONGTIME, one of my all-time favorite songs and I was privileged to be playing in the band both times. To have Brad as a friend was always a joy. He made you feel special just by taking the time to talk with you. To have him as a fan was beyond my wildest dreams. To have earned his approval as a vocalist was the best compliment I've ever received, and probably ever will receive. I'll miss him terribly.Gardner BerryChris Lester ~ Guitar and Bass for Mama Kicks and Four SticksThe first time that I had the pleasure of meeting Brad Delp I was just blown away at what an engaging and gracious person he was. During our fairly brief conversation there were none of the usual awkward pauses that many times happen when meeting a new person. He was genuinely interested in what I had to say. That’s very refreshing in a musician nonetheless a very successful and talented musician at that. I left that night thinking “There’s no way that he can be THAT nice of guy†but indeed he was. Every time I saw him he would ask about the band and tell me how great he thought that we were. I share his great admiration for The Beatles and was speechless the first time I saw Beatle Juice perform. He was an outstanding musician and an even greater human being. His love for music was obvious and it made me rethink what it is that I do as a musician. If I don’t play music out of the love that I have for it then there isn’t any point in doing it at all. He was an inspiration in the truest form of the phrase. I will greatly miss seeing him perform and sharing the stage with him. I am blessed that I had the opportunity to see music and people in a whole new way because of Brad. It really is in what you leave behind.Chris Lester
