I was born a little too late to be a hippie, but I wanted to be one. In my life, I have been a daughter, a sister, a student, a girlfriend, a protester, a waitress, a cashier, a sister-in-law, a counselor, a wife, a first grade teacher, a medical records technician, a park fee collector, a programmer, an aunt, a mother, an ex-wife, a research assistant, a volunteer, a Ph.D., a cog in the machine of state government, a patient, a Democrat, a backyard gardener and a friend. I've spent time in Texas, Kansas, New Jersey, California, points in between and beyond, schools, pools, offices, holding cells, country clubs, amusement parks, beach houses, cars, planes, trains, boats, busses, clubs, bowling alleys, other alleys, theaters, arcades, principals' offices, professors' homes, city and state parks, restaurants, veterinarians', summer camps, museums, sports arenas, nurseries, pickles, jams, and elysian fields.
