We Say

Formed mostly in the latter half of 2007, Across The Aisle is a New York City-based ska/punk/reggae band whose influences include everything from The Clash, Reel Big Fish, Squirrel Nut Zippers to The Drifters, No Doubt & The Beatles. The band began with lead singer, Megg Howe, a Boston native. After meeting guitarist Joe Brody who’d just relocated to NYC from California (Joe has since parted ways with ATA), she convinced her friend and fellow singer/actor, Jay Pintar, originally from Michigan, to dust off his trumpet and start a ska band. Drummers and bassists came and went, but eventually the rhythm section solidified with drummer, Jonathan "J.V." Vergara, the only band member actually from NYC, and bassist, Ashray Shah, also from California. Less than two weeks prior to a weekend engagement in the Boston area, alto saxophonist Jackie Chasen, of New Haven, CT, responded to an ad online and filled out the horn section. On election night '08, ATA debuted their new lineup, featuring guitarist, New Guy, from Hamden, CT.
With members coming from across the country and from very different backgrounds, both musically and otherwise, the band itself is a testament to unity in diversity. Across The Aisle’s unique, catchy melodies and skankalicious rhythms are infectious celebrations of this diversity. Under a banner of kelly green, this band is looking to add some color and take ska from two-tone to three-tone. So wave that three-toned flag and we’ll look for each other Across The Aisle!

They Say

"blending ska with a brassy, chipper, cheery, occasionally sarcastic pop feel - imagine No Doubt without the weight of the corporation beating down on them, and with a horn section so tight you couldn’t fit a piece of paper between the sax and the trumpet. Everything they did was infectious..... All they need is some college radio exposure and this band will be huge."
