HEAL Boston

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Site in progress. Be patient, friends.I realize that I sent out about 50 friend requests to people who may not know what HEAL Boston is. Working on a formal "mission statement" of sorts, but for now, I can tell you that HEAL was born out of the 2007 V-Day Boston campaign. As veterans of many years of The Vagina Monologues and V-Day, many of us found that we needed something else - something different. We still wanted to reach people, raise money, have fun, educate, and, well, save the world, but using a new approach outside of V-Day. So, in conjunction with the play "The Vagina Monologues," we came up with a weekend-long event which incorporated music, activist networking, education, women's health, and just plain fun. HEAL stands for Health, Education, Arts, and Liberation. Although, you may have seen our posters... embarrassingly enough, "Health" was spelled without an "l." So yeah, we're all about Heath, whoever he is.Anyway. HEAL 2007 was a lot of fun, and I'll be writing more about that soon. Aliza Yarrow and I will not be directing/producing The Vagina Monologues next year, but we will be hosting another HEAL event in the fall of 2008. This may or may not be enough information for you to want to get involved in planning, but do let us know if you're interested. I'll post more details, and pictures from the 2007 event soon.Contact organizers for HEAL Boston at [email protected]. Site maintained by Sarah McKay. In case you were wondering.
