Dave Maye: President, Diamond Sharp Studio
Dave Maye started his career in the music industry at the age of 22. Over the years he toured extensively with many live acts including Johnny Cash, Guy Jones, Smash LA, Doug and the Slugs, Jane Jones, Brenda Lee, and Loverboy. While on tour he performed many different jobs ranging from 'lighting director', to 'pyrotechnic engineer', to 'front of house sound reinforcment engineer'.
After many years of touring, Dave decided he was going to persue other avenues of the music business and became a booking agent. Dave proved to be an excellent agent, booking for some of the best clubs in Vancouver such as The Rock Cellar, Lunatic Fringe, The Newton Inn, Paradise Club, and The Boo Pub. Eventually this lead to a decision to become half owner and full operator of a popular nightclub called the Abyss.
When circumstances led him to leave the Abyss, Dave, yet again, decided to persue something new and he opened 12th Street Studio in 1988. He proved very quickly that he could run a successful studio. Along the way, the studio temporarily moved from it's home at 907 12th street in New Westminster, but is now back in it's original location under the new name 'Diamond Sharp Studio'.
Over the years Dave has helped many bands break into the scene, like Noise Therapy, Opium Underground, Jar(now Flybanger), and Zimmers Hole. Dave has created a wonderful reputation for himself around Vancouver and will continue to positively affect the lives of artists for many years to come.
