About Me

Guitarist and composer, Kyle Sanna, has performed original or improvised music in Canada, Luxembourg, France, Germany, and throughout the U.S. at such venues as Carnegie Hall, concert halls at The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music, Cal Arts, UCLA, and others.As a composer, Kyle most often scores the visual and narrative arts, especially film, theater, and dance. He was a 2003 Finalist in Turner Classic Movies’ Young Film Composers Competition and his latest film score (for the indie documentary "Finding the Bottom of the Sky") will see its premiere screening this summer.Kyle has arranged two songs for cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s latest release, “Songs of Joy and Peace” on Sony Classical and three string arrangements appear on guitarist Kaki King’s “Dreaming of Revenge” (Velour Music Group, 2008). His arrangement of Jimi Hendrix’s “Machine Gun” for cellist Jan Vogler and the Knights string orchestra will be released on Sony Classical this June.Kyle holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Oregon and has studied composition at the Université Lumière in Lyon, France. In May, 2006, Kyle participated as both composer and performer in Carnegie Hall’s Porous Borders of Music Workshop with bass virtuoso Edgar Meyer.Kyle lives in Manhattan and performs in clubs and concert halls throughout New York City. His broad interests have led him into diverse musical territories professionally, and have earned him a reputation for challenging categorization.
