O.C. Roberts is a very talented and well-rounded vocalist, actor, and master of ceremonies. He was born in the city of Kingston, Jamaica. He attended the Swallowfield School and Marvely Prep. He sung in the church choir as a child and began his professional singing career at the age of 18. He has a long list of accomplishments to his credit.
At the present, O.C. is back on the music scene with a very unique mix of Dancehall and Reggae sounds. The album is entitled “Barefoot Cowboyâ€. His vocals are mature with a richly alluring sound.
The first single is the title track â€Barefoot Cowboy†and describes all of the travels O.C. made as a youth around the island of Jamaica, with a Dancehall, and Pop flavor. “Marlena’s Dance†is a story of an invitation to a dance by a beautiful girl named Marlena with a “Reggae†opera style. “Scent of A Woman†describes the seduction that accompanies the sweet scent of a woman. The tune has a Reggae/R&B Dancehall Sound.
The song production was done by a new and vibrant producer named “The Roaring Wave.†His ingenuity and creativity shines through. His rhythmic expertise brings the music to another level. His urban mix of styles makes the sound original and distinctive. The lyrics were written by O.C. himself.
With this blend of various styles, you are guaranteed an upbeat, positive experience that only O.C. can deliver. No doubt about it, O.C. Roberts is back!

1971: Lead vocalist in the “Mighty Titans†band, and host at the Bohemia Club in Kingston, Jamaica
1972: Backup band member for artists such as Dennis Brown, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Ken Booth, Burning Spear, George Nooks, Horace Andy, Culture, Wailing Souls, Judy Mowatt, Jacob Miller, Freddie McGregor, Mighty Diamonds, Michael Rose, Tamlins, Earl 16 and many more.
- Served as a co-host with radio personality G.T. Taylor
1976: Recorded a remake of the Teddy Pendergrass single “Wake Up Everybody†with the “Revolutioneers†with Duggy Rodbryan and Sly Dunbar, at High Note Studios managed by Sonja Pattinger. The song made it to the British Hit Charts.
- Jammed with Lloyd Parks and the “Skin, Flesh, & Bone†band at the “Tit For Tat†Club in Kingston, Jamaica
1977: Lead vocalist for the “Legends of Love†band. Recorded and released the singles “Funny Feelingsâ€, Living a Lifeâ€, and “Hey You†in Jamaica and Canada recorded at Channel One Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. “Funny Feelings†made the charts in Canada and Jamaica.
1978: Received the Prime Minister’s Award for “Best Dance Band Vocalistâ€
1979: Moved to Detroit, Michigan USA
1980: Created the band “Samaritans†with Glen Washington, (now popular Reggae vocalist) on drums.
1986: The “Samaritans†backed major Reggae artists such as Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott, Sammy Dread, and others, in various venues in Michigan.
- Won 5 “Metro Times†awards for “Best Vocalist & Best Band†at the Metro Café in Royal Oak, Michigan
1995: Started broadcasting as host and DJ of the radio program “The Reggae Soundblast†on WZNK FM in Detroit, Michigan
1998: Moved to WDTR FM and continued as host of “The Reggae Soundblastâ€
- Rated as the “Best Urban Radio Station†in “Real Detroit†Magazine.
- Master of Ceremonies for live Reggae concerts, such as Beenie Man, Capleton, Steel Pulse, Shaggy, Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage, Beres Hammond and more.
- Hosted various community, cultural festivals and functions.
2002: Hosted the television show “Caribbean Heatâ€
2003: Actor in film “Turn Left on Hastings Street†as the character “Isbyâ€
Won the “Caribbean Source News†Award for “Best Radio Program†for 3 years in a row.
