About Me

On the surface, Adien doesn’t seem to have much in common with the other heavy weight DJs on the circuit. For one, in an industry dominated by men, she looks like she just walked off the set of the chick-surfing flick Blue Crush. But don’t let those beach blonde locks fool you, Adien’s no partying bimbo. In fact, before hitting the big time in the DJing set, she was a geophysicist in the submarine cable industry where she would spend 6-8 weeks at a time on research and surveying vessels completing surveys and installations for the submarine cable industry. What really makes Adien stand out from the others in the circuit, however, is that she doesn’t play what usually constitutes as circuit music.“I love crossing boundaries and defying stereotypes,” she confirms. “I love complex layered music with interesting sounds. Music that is not readily available. People can hear (commercial music) anywhere. I want to offer something that is different, something new but something we can all relate to. My favorite events are after-hours because then I can pull out all the stops; get rid of the vocals and mess with people’s minds.”Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Adien has rocketed up the circuit ladder in record time. She moved to Miami in 2002 and quickly became a favorite at local hotspots Space and Maze. Five months later, she made her national debut at Winter Party 2003. Since then, she has headlined White Party Palm Springs, Winter Party Miami 2004 (spinning the closing party at Maze), Provincetown’s Summer Camp 2004 and has been featured at Avalon Boston and Avalon Los Angeles, among others.“I attract a sophisticated set of ears, music is constantly evolving. Our jobs as DJ and producers is to bring something fresh to the table, to educate.”And this is only the beginning for Adien. After recently launching her label SubTek, Adien is working hard on growing this into a lifestyle brand which encompasses so much more than just music. "SubTek represents everything that inspires me in life. I live a adrenaline driven life and adventure is important. SubTek is a concentration of all my inspiration. Music, snowboarding, art, fashion, adventures, endurance racing and traveling."With her looks, her personality and most importantly, her unique sound, this relative newcomer has become the poster-girl for the next generation of party DJs.Download sets here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=a286a7d2b8d12aaaab1eab3e9 fa335caf77a606c0fed3cd7
