It is official, the Sham Foundation Muffin Endowment has begun it's mission to provide one free muffin every day forever at the Empire Grill. The first recipient of the endowment was regular customer Hugh Littlejohn, and he was certainly pleased. For the record, he chose a chocolate muffin. The Sham Foundation was created by artist James Sham. James was a participant in the 2007 summer program at the Skowhegan School of Art, and he conceived of the unique "micro-endowment" that provides a free muffin every day as his way of giving back to the community that he found so hospitable. So come on in and celebrate our good fortune with a well endowed muffin, who knows? The next recipient of the Sham Foundation Endowment could be you!
