SIMON

About Me

Simon was founded at a radio station in New York by Chad Miller, Greg Welch and Rob Kirkland. The band began writing music and playing local clubs. despite not having much success at first, the band pressed forward. After a couple months together Simon began playing shows and recording demos. Simon combined raw guitars and stop-start dynamics with melodic pop hooks, intertwining harmonies and evocative tongue and cheek lyrics. They became a sought after band due to their tight upbeat acessible groove. The band won a songwriting contest for their catchy tune "The Joint". The musical think tank was masterminded by songwriting talents of Chad Miller and Greg Welch. The band was also featured on a compilation album entitled Virgin artists. This along with stringent touring gave them a larger following and exposed them to many other potential gigs. Simon toured Fraternities and bars during it's stint together. The trio gained it's popularity amongst the college scene and recruited a decent following. After several years of touring and recording the band split up and went their separate ways. Chad Miller eventually went on to become Doctor Bizarre, Greg Welch went on to sing for a band called the Motel Creeps and Rob Kirkland is seen in the friends list below.
