CACTUS CREAM

A banda Cactus Cream é ativa na cena independente brasileira desde 1998. Na última década, eles lançaram: 2 CDs - ENVELHECIDO EM BARRIS DE MEMÓRIA, em 1998, produzido por Tom Capone; e ELEFANTE BE BOP, em 2004 - mais os EPs ALEGRIA ESPECTRÔNICA (2002); NÃO ME ROUBE O SILÊNCIO (2003); e PEQUENA SINFONIA DE BOLSO (2005). Os elementos indie, rock e pop do grupo podem ser melódicos e poéticos, às vezes pesados e psicodélicos, às vezes pop, bons para dançar ou apenas ouvir. Fãs de rock do mundo todo apreciam o som.

O CD ELEFANTE BE BOP foi produzido por Rogério Furtado, junto com a banda e o selo Ettorerock. O disco de 12 faixas foi bem recebido por crítica e público, e o videoclipe da canção "Antes e Depois" rodou bem em diferentes programas da MTV Brasil (MTV Lab, Ya! Dog, entre outros).

O EP PEQUENA SINFONIA DE BOLSO foi produzido por Cláudio Lyra, sobrinho da estrela da bossa nova Carlos Lyra, junto com a banda, e saiu pela Lunatikus Diskus. A recepção deste EP também foi quente e garantiu ao Cactus Cream apresentações ao vivo na MTV Brasil e na TV Educativa (atual Rede Brasil).

Em 2007, depois de um período só de shows, o grupo gravou e lançou o quarto EP, DISCO PUNK DRUNK, adicionando novas influências à sua música. A super dançante faixa-título e o single "Dance Surreal Studio" se tornaram sucessos instantâneos nas pistas de dança cariocas. Cactus Cream se apresenta regularmente no circuito do Rio de Janeiro, incluindo os subúrbios da cidade. Eles também fazem shows em outros estados e tocam em festivais de rock.

As influências são diversas e incluem Velvet Underground, Beatles, David Bowie, Kraftwerk, Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen, Mutantes, Los Hermanos, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jesus and Mary Chain, Strokes, Interpol, Arctic Monkeys, Rapture, CSS, The Cure e outros. Eles compõem em Português e Inglês.

O CD PANORAMA, com 10 faixas, é uma compilação de sucessos dos discos anteriores e, no momento, está sendo sondado por gravadoras e selos, devendo ser lançado em breve.

A banda já está produzindo um novo CD com muitas novidades que deve sair até o meio do ano com o provável título " Bolo De Chocolate Elétrico ".

Cactus Cream has been active in the Brazilian indie rock scene since 1998. In the past decade, they've released: 2 CDs - ENVELHECIDO EM BARRIS DE MEMÓRIA (Aged in Barrels of Memory, 1998), produced by most prestigious Tom Capone; and ELEFANTE BE BOP (Elephant Be Bop, in 2004) - and the EPs ALEGRIA ESPECTRÔNICA (Spectronic Joy, 2002); NÃO ME ROUBE O SILÊNCIO (Don't Steal My Silence, 2003); and PEQUENA SINFONIA DE BOLSO (Small Pocket Simphony, 2005). The band's indie, rock and pop elements can be melodic and poetic, sometimes heavy and psychedelic; and then pop, good to dance to, and contemplative, too. It's been pleasing more and more rock fans around the world.

The CD ELEFANTE BE BOP was produced by Rogério Furtado and Cactus Cream with local independent label Ettorerock. The 12-song album had a warm reception by the critic and the public, and the music video of the song "Antes e Depois" ("Before and After", listen here at MySpace) has been aired regularly on different MTV Brazil shows like MTV Lab, Ya Dog!, etc.

The EP PEQUENA SINFONIA DE BOLSO (Small Pocket Simphony) was produced by Claudio Lyra, nephew of renowned Bossa Nova star Carlos Lyra, along with the band and local label Lunatikus Diskus. The reception to that disc was excellent as well, and granted Cactus Cream with live performances in shows like Banda Antes (Indie Bands), on MTV Brazil, and Atitude.com (EducationTV).

In 2007, following a period of live performances only, Cactus Cream recorded and released their 4th EP, DISCO PUNK DRUNK, adding new influences to their music. The very danceable title-track plus Dance Surreal Studio (released as a single) have become instant hits on rock dance floors in Rio de Janeiro. Cactus Cream play regularly the hip circuits in Rio, as well as inner city concerts. They also tour and perform in rock festivals around the country.

There might be recognizeable influences as diverse as Velvet Underground, Beatles, David Bowie, Kraftwerk, Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen, Mutantes, Los Hermanos, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jesus and Mary Chain, Strokes, Interpol, Arctic Monkeys, Rapture, CSS, The Cure and others. They write the songs in English and Portuguese.

The 10-track disc PANORAMA, a compilation of hits from their previous albums, is now being "auctioned" by major labels and likely to be released soon.
