I remember when I first fell in love with the drums. I had to be about 5 or 6 yrs old and I was at a church in Harlem. There was a heavyset woman on the drums. I thought it was cool how she made the hi-hat go up and down. I thought it was mechanical. Anyhow, after the service was over, I went over to the drums and touched the hi-hat. She looked at me and said, "don't touch the drums kid". After that I had the bug. In the fifth grade, I joined the band and got my first snare. In the 8th grade, I joined the jazz bad and was know as the best drummer in the school. All through out high school I perform with the Truman high school jazz band at different functions at different schools through out the Bronx. When my family and I moved to Newark, NJ, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Young Americans Song and Dance competition in Pasadena, CA. We came in second place. I studied under jazz drummers Joe Dukes and Larry Johnson. At a young age, I jammed at several legendary Harlem venues such as La Famille and The Baby Grand. I consider myself to be a drummer for the band. I'm known for staying in the pocket, coming up with tight funk grooves and showing off when it's time to show off. My styles include but are not limited to, R&B/Neo Soul, Funk, Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, and Latin etc. Check out my upcoming shows list, come out and support the Band and see me do what I do best.
