There will be many performers in this show, so to keep it simple here is a brief character synopsis and who wll be playing the principal parts!
Grace (Connie Nash)
Late teens/early twenties. Daughter of Felix, she has been and continues to be relied upon by her dad since her mum died when she was young. She effectively runs the museum. She dreams about finding love.
Alfie (Jake Wallis)
Early twenties. Stuck in a job that doesn’t inspire him, he’s looking for a purpose in his life. Nice guy, but can’t seem to get a girlfriend because he’s not confident with women, and he’s always overshadowed by Hank. Works with, and best mate of Hank.
Desdemona (Jessica Brake)
Early twenties. Friend of Grace, helps out around the museum sometimes. Very strong character – doesn’t take any crap from anyone.
Hank (Stuart Guest)
American, early twenties. Irresistible to women, all he has to do is look and they fall at his feet, yet he can never keep one for more than a day or two, because he doesn’t understand women at all. Works with, and best mate of Alfie.
Felix (Stuart Karney)
Curator of the museum. In his late thirties/ early forties. Slightly posh sounding, and a little bit wacky – (think the guy who replaced David Dickenson on Bargain Hunt). Is rather pathetic, and doesn’t really have a clue. Bumbles around the museum all day.
Lewis (Alex Neumann)
Early twenties. Best friend of Dale. Spends pretty much all of his time in the museum, employed with Dale as caretakers. All they do is mess around.
Dale (Chris Knights)
Early twenties. Best friend of Lewis. Spends pretty much all of his time in the museum, employed with Lewis as caretakers. All they do is mess around. Dale is a bit camp, everyone thinks he is gay.
Brenyth (Jenni Briggs)
In her late thirties/early forties – same age as Felix. Lives next door to the museum. Seemingly a horrible, vindictive woman.
Tramp (Frank Hanford)
Mid to late twenties, local tramp. Hangs around the streets outside the museum and gets befriended by Lewis & Dale. Joins in with their messing around.
Winthorpe (Fil Biggs)
Late twenties, the museum's biggest fan! He love's the place to bits and can't bear the thought of it closing.
Influences:
Lost & Found draws influences from many other stage musicals covering many different musical styles. For example, the song "The Collection" has similarities to some of Gilbert & Sullivan, whilst retaining it's individuality and uniqueness. Whist there have been no attempts to "copy" or recreate the style of any other musical works, it is noticeable that the co-writers enjoy a vast array of musical theatre styles.
The show is also a comedy, which will appeal to audiences young and old alike. There are many satirical references, yet they are subtle enough not to distract or confuse anyone who doesn't get them straight away!
Sounds Like:
Lost and Found tells the story of a museum faced with imminent closure, and the stories of a group of people who are brought together by the events that unfold. A lighthearted musical comedy, covering the high's and lows of everyday life - one for all the family!
