I'm a studio tech, music producer, Musician and music engineer. For those who don't know that means, I get paid to either fix/build a piece of gear, play music with The Sun ray Gravitones, or I get paid to produce/record music. It's a good gig and I love what I do. However the flip side is the long hours have had me seeing the sunrise one too many times from the night before. Plus most people now days making records do not have a clue about anything, from the sonic to the technical aspects of making records. It's why most albums sounds like dog shit. It's also why we have cd's and digital recording in the first place. Aside from that, this has also left me semi bitter as the music industry is no longer run by people who know anything about music. The bean counters run labels now as opposed to musicians. This is shown by poor album sales and less then average artists, male or female, who aside from looking halfway decent in makeup, could not perform to save their lives if they had too. I'm fighting the good fight of people being accountable for their audio mistakes, artists who can perform live, songwriters who can write good songs, and albums recorded properly. There are few of us left. I will go down with the ship because as long as I am alive and kicking, I will have higher standards when it comes to all aspects of the music business then most of my contemporaries.
