MICHAELA: Michaela spielt schon seit ihrer Kindheit verschiedene Instrumente und kam über die klassische Querflöte und die Whistle im Jahr 2004 zur Concert Flute, die seitdem ihr Hauptinstrument ist. Sie ist Schülerin bei Regina Elling und wurde von Claus Steinort unterrichtet. Bei Workshops in Irland und während der Frankie Kennedy Winter School in Donegal lernte sie Flötisten wie Harry Bradley, Paul McGrattan und Jean-Michel Veillon kennen, die durch ihre unterschiedlichen Stile ihr Spiel beeinflussten.
Neben dem Duo Faoilean mit ihrem Mann Michael gehört Michaela zu den Bands Spideog und Gaelic Wind Project.
Michaela spielt Concert Flutes in D und Bb, gebaut vom schottischen Flute Maker George Ormiston, und Whistles von Colin Goldie, John Sindt und Michael Burke.
Eversince her childhood Michaela has been playing a wide range of instruments. Having played the Boehm-Flute and whistles she finally made the wooden concert flute her main instrument in 2004. She is a student of Regina Elling and has been taught by Claus Steinort. Attending workshops in Ireland and during the Frankie Kennedy Winterschool in Donegal she got to know flutist like Harry Bradley, Paul McGrattan and Jean-Michel Veillon, who due to their diverging styles influenced her playing.
Apart from the duo with her husband Michael, Michaela belongs to the bands Spideog and Gaelic Wind Project. Michaela plays concert flutes in D and Bb, made by the scottish flute maker George Ormiston, and whistles by Colin Goldie, John Sindt and Michael Burke.

MICHAEL: Michaels hatte schon früh vielfältige musikalische Interessen; seine Leidenschaft für die traditionelle irische Musik entdeckte er jedoch erst 2003. In den folgenden Jahren spezialisierte er sich auf die Gitarre und die Irish Bouzouki und suchte Musiker wie Pierre Bensusan, Mark Kelly, Jens Kommnick und Aaron Jones auf, die ihm ihre Techniken und Ideen mit auf den Weg gaben. Schwerpunkt seiner musikalischen Arbeit ist der Celtic Fingerstyle, wobei er jedoch auch Spieltechniken aus Flamenco und Jazz in sein Spiel einbringt.
Neben dem Duo Faoilean mit seiner Frau Michaela gehört Michael zu den Bands Spideog, Chevron Flight und Gaelic Wind Project.
Michael spielt Saiteninstrumente von Lakewood, Eccleshawl und Hns. Sanchis Lopez sowie Bodhrans von Christian Hedwitschak und Seamus O'Kane.
Michael has had multiple musical interests from a very early age, his passion for irish traditional music, however, he discovered as late as 2003. During the following years he specialized in the guitar in DADGAD tuning and the Irish Bouzouki and called on musicians like Pierre Bensusan, Mark Kelly, Jens Kommnick and Aaron Jones, who inspired him with their techniques and ideas. The focus of his musical work is celtic fingerstyle, but he also integrates techniques from flamenco and jazz into his playing.
Apart from the duo with his wife Michaela, Michael belongs to the bands Spideog Chevron Flight and Gaelic Wind Project.
Michael plays stringed instruments by Lakewood, Eccleshawl and Hns Sanchis Lopez, as well as Bodhrans by Christian Hedwitschak and Seamus O'Kane.
