Why Can't You Just Hold Me?

About Me

_______________________________________________________
A is for Avenue began originally as Reach for the Gun in the summer of 2007. Shortly after its creation, Brian and Ken parted ways with Reach for the Gun, who have now rebuilt themselves as a hardcore band in the local scene. Brian and Ken decided to go back to their musical roots and play happier pop music, so they began to form a new project. Soon after, Dave Nesich was asked to play rhythm guitar. Dave had played in their former band, divinityTHEORY, and was also a very good friend, so he agreed wholeheartedly. Brian made the decision to switch to bass, in order to perform vocals as well, and Ken stuck with what he knew; the drums. This turned into a pop-punk trio, who finally settled on the name A is for Avenue. Looking for a fuller sound, A is for Avenue decided to add a second guitarist to play lead. Kevin Delano had been looking for a band to join, and was on board immediately. By late November of 2007, A is for Avenue was in full swing.

Since our beginning, we've been trying hard to get our sound where we want it to be, and to get our name out as many people as possible. All of our recordings have been brought to life in our own homes, using our own equipment. We know they're not top notch, but at the moment our primary focus is to get our music out into the public eye…or, ear.
The EP, "Until the Sun Goes Down", is currently being simultaneously written and recorded, set to release before A is for Avenue's 2008 Summer Tour. Please read our blog if you are in a band or a promoter, to help us book our tour!
Thank you very much, we LOVE you,

Do it up, we're always on.

Influences: We are influenced by the world around us. We try to stay as up to date on politics and the media as much as possible to make us more intelligent than we are. Collectively, we listen to artists ranging from Bury Your Dead to Sunny Day Real Estate to Streetlight Manifesto to Fall Out Boy to Kanye West to Rise Against to LoveHateHero to Chuck Berry to Four Year Strong to As I Lay Dying. What we're trying to say is that we try to open our minds to all forms of music, and we take bits and pieces of everything we hear and put it in to our writing process.

Our lyrics are very cynical and sarcastic. Our aim is to bring music back to the way it used to be, fun and enjoyable. Music has become so theurapeutical and we believe it should be recreational. Yeah, your girlfriend broke your heart, but listening to your favorite sing about it won't make it better. Our lyrics are taken from those experiences but instead of, "You broke my heart, I hate you." we're trying, "You broke my heart, but I'm better than the grief, and I'm going to stand up and continue on with life."
Sounds Like: We got bored with hearing and making the same old generic pop music. Since each one of us have come from a different musical backround (Brian-indie/hiphop, Dave- screamo, Ken- pop rock, and Kevin- ska), we decided to write music that comes from a multitude of genres. We believe in making music we love, not music thats trendy. With a unique sound and a lively stage experience, A is for Avenue is sure to please every listener, regardless of your musical preference.
