UNCHARTED WATERS
Uncharted Waters is at the moment basically me just fuckin' around recording (guitars, bass & vocals) and programming (drums and keys) songs, but I have been in contact with a couple of top notch musicians that will bestow me with their incredible skills when things start moving. It's a little too early to be giving out any names of personnel right now but what I can inform you is that I'm not planning on going solo.
A little about myself then... well, for the initiated death metal audience I'm probably most renowned for my guitar work with Hypocrisy that I played for in between the years 2002-2006, and some of you may know that I've done session jobs together with Soilwork and Pain but I'm pretty sure that my musical origin is unknown to many.
I'm a sucker for fusion, jazz, progressive and Zappa. My main instrument is bass- fretless, upright 6-string you name it, even though I believe that I've developed and improved myself on guitar over the last four years. I've worked with all kinds of music in the past, anything from classical music to commercial crap is on my resume.
In between 1998-2001 I attended a music school in Stockholm were I took piano and cello lessons, music theory, and so forth. In 2000 me and a close friend Magnus Henningsson recorded a demo under the name Jukka Pekkonen "Dragspelsmusik fran Rovhalet" (Fusion rock project that involved 13 musicians) it achieved some good critical acclaim from local reviewers and label people but sadly enough never got picked up, even though European Prog. distributors MUSEA took an interest we never carried the funds to print it.
A brief history about me... other pastimes, I enjoy fishing, spending time with my family, digging in on Holdsworth, Pastorius, Zappa, Beatles, Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Bach, Bob Marley, Sabbath, Purple, Zeppelin, King Crimson and plenty more... but hey, I have to stop myself before I get an erection.
SONG TITLES :
1. Three Songs Segues Into A One Track Index:
I. Shallowed Be Thy Name : Is a piece containing chunky loads of distorted guitars fused with groovy, hard-driven beats, altered tempo's and lots of different time signatures, a couple of guitar leads was thrown into this stew as well.
The song's generally about vanity and the fixation around superficialities, and I for one can't say that I care much for breast augmentations, collagen lip injections and penis enlargements.
II. My Long Lost Enemy : This song starts off with bass, drums and Hammond organ with harmony guitars fading in, it evolves and erupts into an adaptation customized to fit your keen little metal ears, a couple of solos are to be heard on this little nugget.
The content of this song's about wrong-doers and the way they try to dupe you and fill you up to the rim full of bollocks.
III. Unholy & Extreme : An homage to the bands that got me in to this mess initially. I wasn't deliberately tryin' to copy or rip off some of my all time favorites but I have to admit that I borrowed the idea of inverted guitars from The Beatles and I created a heavy song that may have a slight resemblance to Black Sabbath.
This songs lyrical content's about being an outcast and a reject of no use to anyone at anytime -A little bit like Dio's "Rock 'n' Roll children" but without the cheese factor, This is serious matters goddamn it!
2. Clarity : Check it out for yourself!
Clarity is about how things are run nowadays and how all the earths treasures and resources sadly enough are exploited and divided amongst already established rich prosperous countries, leaving nothing for the poor. And if the poor won't voluntarily surrender to our demands we'll in the name of some twisted whatever fuckin' god declare war on them stating that their country is in desperate need to be democratized -Well you all know how it goes...
3. Two Songs Segues Into A One Track Index:
I. Within Its Grip : A tune with some memorable melodies, Arpeggio guitars, Slide guitars, Lead guitars, more guitars, and unfortunately a mix that isn't to my fullest liking, but fuck it!
This one's about standing tall through times of despair and turbulence and remember kids take no shit from anyone!
II. In One's Mind's Eye : This song has many different time signatures and undercurrents but is mainly based around a shuffle, here I also dusted off my friends Wah-Wah pedal and pulled off a somewhat synchronized fingers/ foot collaboration.
I just don't understand how the fuck we can stomach all this garbage that's being dished out to us through the media funnel, why do they force feed us discarded fruits when there's so much more and better out there.
4. Lay Me Down : Another guitar based song with a catchy chorus, a song that leans more towards hard rock than metal. One lead on this one.
Lay me down or knock me out...you'll be humming on this one by the end of your day
