About Me

Mini Bio –
Born in the small town of Athol, Massachusetts, Shawn Patterson has been composing music for film and television in Los Angeles since 1990. One of his first music composing jobs was for Terry Gilliam on "The Fisherking" movie trailer campaign. He started gaining attention in the animation world soon after his arrival on the original "The Ren & Stimpy Show".
Spanning over 27 years, Shawn's background as a score composer, producer, songwriter, arranger and guitarist ranges from bebop, classical, metal, swing, pop, flamenco, blues to experimental. As a guitarist, he has lead jazz, blues and rock ensembles through out New England for years. In Los Angeles, he played guitar with the acid blues band, "The Screaming Lederhosen".
As a composer, some of his clients include: Universal Pictures, Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network, The Sci-Fi Channel, Sony, CBS, Slamdance Film Festival and South by Southwest.
Patterson has scored and produced music in a wide range of mediums: from film and television to film trailers, shorts and documentaries. He has worked for a variety of noted directors such as Henry Selick, Tom McGrath, Mike Mitchell, Robert Kurtzman, Terry Giliam, and many others.
He is consistently in demand for his unique and powerful scores in episodic animated television, such as "Oh Yeah! Cartoons", "The X's", "Dave The Barbarian" and much more.
Patterson's original musical scores have been heard in film festivals around the world in such award winning indie films as "The Bible & Gun Club", "Herd" and the disturbing short film,"Cheap Date".
Recently, he completed the musical scores and songs for the smash animated hit series, “El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera” as well as "Tak and the Power of JuJu" for Nickelodeon. His music on El Tigre has earned him a 2008 Annie Award nomination for "Music in an Animated Television Production".
Currently, Shawn is composing for soon to be announced projects in the gaming industry and his first large scale symphonic work.He is also finishing the score for a live action short for director Oliver Pearce entitled,"Page Turner". Look for "Page Turner" in all major film festivals early 2009.
