About Me

WinGateFilms is a small, independent filmmaking production company seeking to develop and produce independent films celebrating the human spirit by fostering a genuinely collaborative creative environment respecting the individual contributions of cast and crew.In the Summer of 2005, Philadelphia area actor Michael Wingate Jones conceived WinGateFilms as a production vehicle for an exploratory attempt by a first-time filmmaker to produce a manageable weekend shoot project utilizing volunteer cast and crew.WinGateFilms enlisted the aid of Kevin Ploth of Plan Nine Design Productions to assist during pre-production and principal photography. Patrick Tyrrell, another Philadelphia area actor, also came on board as an additional co-producer from the beginning. Kevin Hackenberg of Get-Kinetic provided awesome cinematography, complemented by the original film score by Joseph O'Brien of Hatchend Studios, London, and Neysa Ricciardi's original song, "No Better Time."The indie short film, "Nothing But Net" is perhaps best characterized as a coming-of-age romantic dramedy, using a familiar basketball metaphor for finding fulfillment in life and relationships, incorporating 3 mini-mock commercials with sports action and dramatic scenes.NBN was shot on multiple Panasonic DVX100A camcorders, utilizing fixed, dolly, jib crane and steadicam capability, with an on set crew of 15-18 both shooting days, and providing an outlet for the performances of over 20 principal actors and 10 or so background players.
