Trefellas

About Me

When three fellas got together in 1998 Trefellas was created!
We have since played a range of gigs from social clubs to pubs, fields to village halls and lounges to gazebos. We play a celtic mix of folk for listening and dancing and even sing having resisted the urge for nine years! During that time we teamed up with a banjo player and a fiddle player and over the years have been playing most Wednesday nights at pubs local to Taunton.
We generally play acoustic on Wednesday nights but on bookings at other times play through small amps or our PA depending on the venue.
Mike started the band and is a dancer and musician in his spare time. He has taught music and dance to adults and children, is Foreman of a local Morris side and plays and calls with two local folk bands.
Steve is our percussionist who plays whistle, bass and side drum and is involved with two local traditional dance teams. He provides somewhere to practice and best of all he brews many fine beers!
Linda has taught music for more years than she’d admit! She has noted that we behave differently to an orchestra and has now undertaken to count us in correctly and help us find our way in deepest Devon! She will often be heard to say “I don’t know why I go out and play with you lot” – but she does all the same!
Jim has done the professional band thing in his youth and has now hung up his Strat and sax for more folky instruments that he has made. He plays for several folk dance bands and is one of few to remain when the bagpipes come out!!
Nigel and daughter Lucy both love the banjo - and we were sure there would be others as well! Lacking this Nigel set about creating another potential fan of the banjo and he is currently having a baby break from Trefellas. We all wish him well. Sadly he was the only one to talk to if you needed to know the name of a tune.
