Diamondog was formed in 1998. It started out as a Britpop band and ended up playing modern hard rock combined with elements from the metal genre. Their first album was released in 2003 by the record label FaceFront. The good reviews led to many gigs in both Norway and Sweden and also gave the opportunity to perform on national television.
In 2006 the band decided to do another album and new songs were written. The album was recorded early in 2007 and should have been released in the autumn that very same year. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. The first mixes were done by Fabrizio Grossi (Slash, Glenn Hughes, Dave Navarro, Steve Vai, Starbreaker..) and he insisted to let Chris Athens (Metallica, Ossy Ousbourne, Johnny Cash, Coldplay Beastie Boys, etc.) do the mastering - which he did. In this process a lot of other persons also were involved. Ty Tabor from Kings's X was one of them and he came up with an alternative mix and master. Finally Diamondog ended up with an album mixed by both Fabrizio Grozzi and Ty Tabor - mastered by the Norwegian guy, Stig Antonsen.
The new album really turned out great! The CD sounds fresh and has some killer songs! It’s difficult to describe how the band sounds since every song has a little bit of everything. One can hear elements of punk, rock, groovy blues and heavy metal. Mix that with both screaming and melodic vocals – you’ll get Diamondog!
