Hey everyone! My name is Mark Blomsteel. I’m a singer/songwriter from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I was born here on May 23, 1983. Hey, that makes me 25 ;) My life has been a wonderful journey so far and took me to beautiful places like Japan, Australia, the USA and I’ve been all over Europe. At the age of 12, I started writing my own songs and I remember one of my first songs ever had the title ‘Time’. The same year I formed a band in high school where I was the lead singer. We sang songs by all kinds of artists like Boyz II Men and The Beatles. Although I had a lot of fun, I never thought I would be able to realize my dream (making my own CD) as there were so many people put there wanting the same thing. I studied to become a teacher and had my own show on at a local radio station. It was around that time when a producer from a record label called me saying he was interested in buying my lyrics. We began negotiations and at the last moment I pulled out of the deal. I just couldn’t live with the fact that someone else was going to sing my words, my life! My lyrics just meant too much to me! After 3 years of teaching I knew that it wasn’t my destiny. I decided to go to the University of Rotterdam to study Media & Entertainment Management. I started working for MTV Networks and that gave me a lot of inside of the music industry. During my time as a student I teamed up with the famous producer Paul ‘Tubbs’ Williams who had previously worked with the likes of Robbie Williams, Boyzone, Beverly Craven and The Spice Girls. At the Liquid Spillers studio in Rotterdam we started working on the song ‘Leaving it all behind’. The chemistry between the two of us was amazing and the result of the song was great. We were making plans for an entire album (my dream) but 2 months after completing the master mix of ‘Leaving it all behind’, Paul died of a sudden heart attack early 2007. He was only 44. A big loss for the music industry. After a few months I picked myself up and got ready to work on my dream with my friend and guitarist Frans de Haer. In May 2007 I released my first CD ‘Shine’ and a month later I graduated from the University, receiving my Bachelors degree in Economics. The song ‘Leaving it all behind’ resulted in a lot of invitations from radio and TV stations for interviews and live performances and the song hit High Rotation at various Dutch radio stations. Even the title track ‘Shine’ from the CD was a favourite on Dutch radio. In the fall of 2007 I was asked to be my great friend Mark Lennon’s support act at his Black & White Tour in the Netherlands which was of course a great experience. I couldn’t be happier with the success at the time but it was overshadowed by some personal problems involving love and death, which all left me very confused. It made me realize how precious life is and how important it is to enjoy every minute of it. At the moment I feel stronger than ever and I started working on my new album which I hope to release before the end of the year. I teamed up with an old friend and wonderful producer Budy and we started working on three songs: Someday, Where do I belong and my personal favourite Snow.

Mark Blomsteel - You take my breath away
the music video for the song 'You take my breath away' was shot close to my house and in downtown Rotterdam. Rotterdam is the place where I was born and raised. The video was filmed by filmmaker Alex Werff.

Mark Blomsteel - Norwegian Wood (Live on Dutch TV)
When asked to perform at this show I decided to sing two covers of artist that inspired me over the years. 'Norwegian Wood' is a song by The Beatles. These guys from Liverpool made timeless songs and most of the time they were very simple. At the day of our performance everything seemed to go wrong with the sound so I might look a little bit nervous LOL
